Jim Brogren, President
Jim is founder and president of Lakes Area Parrot Heads, Inc. (LAPHC), and a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry. In addition, he has served as a long-time Regional Communicator in the PHiP Midwest Region.
In 2003, Jim started a small Parrot Head club in the middle of Nowhere, Minn., and with sound leadership, imagination and enthusiasm, grew the LAPHC into the Golden Coconut Award recipient in 2011 – eight short years! Jim brings this same leadership ability to the board of the Lone Palm Foundation, along with vision, enthusiasm and experience.
Joe Lombardi, Vice President
Joe has been a member of the board of directors of the Metro Parrot Head Club (MetroPHC) for more than 20 years and has served as president, long-term newsletter editor and his current position as vice president. In his professional position as a land use planner, Joe designs subdivisions and site development plans, prepares environmental assessments and works to shepherd developmental proposals through the “minefield” of local, county and state regulatory boards and agencies.
Joe’s presence on the LPF Board provides a high level of creativity, strong presentation and negotiation skills and consummate professionalism. As an aside, Joe is about the only PHiP Club member whom Jimmy Buffett knows by name and recognizes on sight.
Sara Kessler, Director of Finance
A long-time member of the Central Oklahoma Parrothead Association (COPA), Sara currently serves as COO of the COPA Cares Fund, the 501(c)3 charity arm of COPA and, as such, is familiar with the day-to-day operations of a small charity organization. She brings to the LPF Board a spirit of volunteerism, youthful enthusiasm and a can-do attitude that will stand the board in good stead.
In addition, from her position in the planning department of a mid-sized engineering firm, Sara will bring strong analytical and organizational skills to the Board.
Barb Herzog, Secretary
One of the strongest members of the Lakes Area Parrot Heads in Detroit Lakes, Minn., Barb has the best of both worlds: summer in Minnesota and winters in Key West. Barb and her husband, Dave, arrived in Key West on their sailboat in 2000. They planned to stay six months, but ended up staying much longer. Barb is now the Harbormaster at Boca Chica Marina, the military marina in Key West, though it’s now a seasonal job so she can return to Minnesota each summer.
Barb’s background provides the LPF Board with broad expertise in leadership and quality assurance, while embracing new and innovative ideas.
